About
Who Am I
Hi, I'm Ruiying Xu, a product designer based in New York City. I'm currently pursuing a BFA in Design at the School of Visual Arts, where I focus on building thoughtful digital experiences that balance visual clarity, systems thinking, and usability.
Through product design internships in both the U.S. and China, I've worked across enterprise AI, design systems, brand identity, and responsive web experiences. I enjoy translating complex workflows into interfaces that feel simpler, more useful, and more human.
Process
I begin by understanding the product space, user behavior, and workflow constraints through competitive analysis, audits, and discovery conversations.
I turn findings into design directions, prioritizing the problems that matter most and defining flows that can scale across product surfaces.
I create wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and interaction patterns that simplify complex experiences while staying visually cohesive.
I build interactive prototypes to test concepts, communicate intent clearly, and align with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
I document reusable components and handoff details so the final work is consistent, scalable, and easier for teams to implement.
