AllerPal restaurant scanning experience

AllerPal is a digital companion designed for children with food allergies and the adults supporting them. The goal was to create a visual system that feels warm, legible, and easy to act on in stressful dining situations.

From the first interaction to real-world use, the project balances playful branding with clear communication, making safety information more accessible for both kids and parents.

Role

UX Research, Visual Design, Product Strategy

Focus

Food allergy communication for children

Outcome

A friendlier, more reassuring dining experience

Research & Strategy

Persona

Meet Emily and Lina.

Meet Emily and her daughter Lina, two users navigating the everyday challenge of dining out with food allergies. As a single mother, Emily worries about emergency situations and hopes Lina can become more independent in managing her dairy allergy.

Problem

Dining out still feels uncertain.

Parents need a faster way to help children understand menus, filter risky ingredients, and communicate clearly with staff in noisy, stressful restaurant environments.

Solution

AllerPal acts as their voice.

The app combines scanning, AI assistance, menu simplification, and parent-friendly updates into one calm experience that supports safer dining decisions.

Brand Application

Built as a system across product, service, and communication touchpoints.

Beyond the app itself, AllerPal extends into onboarding emails, campaign materials, and public-facing assets so the experience feels recognizable and supportive at every step.

Campaign

AllerScan

Designed for fast menu scanning in real restaurant settings.

One of the strongest touchpoints in the project is the scanning experience, where children can quickly point the camera at a menu and get a clearer, safer read of what they can order.

Final Direction

Every screen and artifact was built to feel warm, legible, and safe.

From the visual system to the restaurant flow, the project balances friendliness and clarity so children can communicate with more confidence in public spaces.
